Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has requested the National Highway Authority (NHA) to acquire a chunk of land for constructing a link road from the motorway to Kashmir Highway, a news source reported.

The civic agency made this request in two separate letters addressed to the highway authority. It informed the NHA that the decision to acquire land for the said project was made some three decades ago.
It added that the leaseholders of NHA’s land along GT Road had encroached upon the CDA land from EME College to Nicholson monument. These illegal constructions had cropped up in the planned right of way (ROW) of Kashmir Highway.
The development authority said that it was unable to verify whether the land is owned by the NHA, CDA, or is a public/private property due to the absence of boundary pillars on either side of the GT Road, from EME College to Nicholson Monument.
