Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has established 14 industrial zones in the province in a bid to promote commercial activities by creating employment opportunities and accelerating production, according to a news published on Tuesday (October 5).

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) KPEZDMC Javed Khattak, these industrial zones were set up when the economic activities were badly impacted due to the COVID pandemic. He further added that the industrial zones provide facilities such as water, telecom and IT infrastructure, sewerage system, uninterrupted power supply, employment opportunities, centralized commercial areas, and efficient road network.
As per the details shared, the new industrial zones were set up in Hattar, Risalpur, Rashakai, Mohmand, Jalozai, Chitral, Ghazi, Dera Ismail Khan (D.I Khan), and Nowshera. It was also mentioned that work on four news industrial zones is also in progress.
CEO Javed disclosed that the industrial zones are attracting investment mainly because of the facilities provided by the KP government. It was reported that Mohmand Economic Zone is expected to generate PKR 7.6 billion investment along with creating 56,000 jobs. Sharing more details about the zones, the CEO stated that all the economic zones have foolproof security and no compromise has been made on its quality.

Moreover, Rashakai Economic Zone is 95% completed and is expected to create 200,000 jobs for youth. It was revealed that not only local investors, but foreign investment companies are also interested in investing in Rashakai Special Zone.
