Karachi: Authorities concerned have devised a rotation plan under which all irrigation channels and growers will get their equal share of water, a news source reported. The plan has been formulated in the light of reports that the availability of water for Rabi crop has witnessed a 40% decline.
The new irrigation scheme has been planned in such a way that during November and December adequate water would be available for sowing of Rabi crop on rotation basis.
The Sindh government has directed departments concerned to ensure strict implementation of the plan so that water reaches tail systems of all channels. It has also asked the officials to address water theft by all means necessary.
Any module if found tempered with during the inspection would be closed as per Irrigation Act and Rules. Farmers have been told to avoid such an action as they would be dealt with under the law.
