Rawalpindi: The Department of Excise Taxation and Narcotics has decided to add 19 new union councils to the tax net – a news source reported. As per the publication, the process entails changing the village status for these union councils and adding them to the metropolitan corporation’s jurisdiction.

It will also entail the collection of property tax from all the properties located in these union councils, with the authorities having already begun issuing property tax notices to the owners of said properties.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority, WASA and Solid Waste Management companies have also begun the preparations to provide the relevant facilities to these union councils. They will be sent utility bills starting from the new year as well.

Reportedly, the locals have expressed some reservations about the collection of taxation before additional services have been provided to these areas.
