Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi city administration has initiated a survey of the city’s existing transport system so as to introduce a new mechanism in the urban areas – a news source reported. According to the publication, the new transportation plan is expected to reduce the influx of traffic on the major roads.

A district administration official revealed that the provincial government has also directed the divisional and deputy commissioners to work on introducing an optimizes transportation framework in the urban areas of their districts.
As per the reports, the Rawalpindi Division commissioner, in turn, has directed the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to launch a survey of all the city’s existing transport routes.

The administration plans on replacing the old vans and pickups with modern buses by inviting investors on these routes. The authorities also plan on launching a new transport system in the cantonment areas. The system will initially be launched on the major roads of the city and then expanded to the smaller ones.
