Gujrat: The Gojra Town of Mandi Bahauddin might get tehsil status after the bifurcation of Malakwal tehsil as Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Parvez Elahi seeks a feasibility report from Board of Revenue members and district administration of Mandi Bahauddin, according to news published on October 7.

Currently, the district consists of three tehsils, Malakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, and Phalia and Gojra Town is part of the Malakwal tehsil. According to the proposed boundary of the new tehsil, it will comprise some of the patwar circles of Mandi Bahauddin and Phalia tehsils. The news sources mentioned that the proposed limit of the new tehsil is not defined yet by the local land revenue department.

It is pertinent to note that the Punjab government has launched several mega-development projects in the Mandi Bahauddin district.
