Rawalpindi: The Forest Department Rawalpindi North is expected to plant over 550,000 saplings during its monsoon tree plantation campaign, according to a news report. This plantation campaign was launched by the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Saif Anjum by planting a sapling in Gymkhana, while various other dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
While giving details, the Conservator Forests Rawalpindi Circle Ather Shah Khagga informed the public that all measures are being taken to meet this target. The concerned authorities have directed that work be carried out as per the plan, to bring maximum area under forest cover.
Khagga highlighted that the staff members of the department have been activated to assure proper forestation in their respective areas. He also added that young people would be brought in to contribute to afforestation plans. As a measure of landslide control, thousands of saplings are to be planted in Murree area.
Khagga also added that 1.1 million saplings had been successfully planted under the spring tree plantation drive.
