Peshawar: Owners of wedding halls, marquees and private schools are now obligated to reserve a specific percentage of the total land as parking space, a news source quoted Peshawar District Nazim Muhammad Asim Khan. For marquees and wedding halls, 200% of the total area has to be reserved for parking, while schools are to allocate 45 of the campus’s land for the purpose.
To implement the orders, Khan has instructed the Building Control Authority managing all four towns of the city to formulate the rules. While the existing school and wedding halls owners have been instructed to arrange for proper car parking space. Khan gave these directives while presiding over a meeting held in Peshawar Town 1.
Speaking at the occasion, Khan said that in the absence of parking space in these facilities, the residents of local areas face serious traffic issues. He specifically mentioned traffic jams on Warsak Road, GT Road, University Road, Kohat Road, Charsaddah Road and City Circular Road. To cope with the traffic situation, it was decided to make it mandatory for these facilities to allocated proper parking space.
