Islamabad: New local government system will be introduced in Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a high-level committee has been established for the purpose, according to a news report. Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan formed the committee to present the structure of the new setup in a week.
The PM chaired a meeting on the matter. The meeting was also attended by the chief ministers of Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with federal and provincial ministers. The recommendations of the committee will later be presented before the respective provincial assemblies. The PM instructed that the recommendation should be formalised within a month.
Speaking on the matter, the PM said that the devolution of power is an important agenda of the new government.
