Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched development work on unoccupied land in Harbanspura to develop the new journalist colony, according to news published on April 18.

It was reported that the development was prompted on the instructions of Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi. As per the sources, the affectees of the previous journalist colony will be offered alternative plots in the new colony after the completion of the development work.
The project site was visited by Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Provincial Ministers Aamir Mir and Syed Azfar Ali Nasir to review the development work on new plots. The LDA authorities were instructed to expedite the development work and complete it at the earliest. The scope of work includes the development of civic infrastructure and facilities like road networks, electricity, water supply and sewage system.

Minister for Housing Azfar Ali Nasir revealed that the authority will soon complete the development work to give journalists their plots. He said that the new colony will offer a suitable and secure living environment for journalists who were displaced in the aftermath of the previous development projects.
