Islamabad: Development work on infrastructural facilities connecting the under construction new Islamabad international airport are underway at a fast pace, allowing the project to complete in the next six months, a news source quoted Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed.
Ahmed was addressing the Senate’s committee meeting called by Senator Saleem Mandiwala, Senator Farhat Ullah Babar, Senator Azam Swati, Salamuddin Sheikh, and Rehman Malik through a “Tawaja Dilao Notice”.
Ahmed told the committee that 3,289 acres of land had been acquired for the new airport, PC-1 worth PKR 36.86 for the project was prepared in 2008 while development work was initiated in 2014. At the moment, internal setup of the airport has been completed by 98%.
According to Ahmed, two dams are being built to meet the water requirements of facility. While construction work and the development of road infrastructure connecting the airport with Islamabad is also in full swing. The authorities concerned are trying to complete work pending on the facility in the next six months, he said.
