Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled a series of major development initiatives aimed at transforming Islamabad’s urban landscape, with a central focus on reducing traffic congestion and enhancing city aesthetics. These plans include an extensive upgrade to the Islamabad Expressway, construction of new interchanges at high-traffic points, and a city-wide beautification drive.
The Islamabad Expressway upgrade, one of the project’s key elements, aims to expand lanes, introduce service roads, and enhance key intersections to improve traffic flow and reduce travel times. A CDA spokesperson emphasized the importance of this project, noting, “Islamabad Expressway is a vital link for the capital’s residents, and the upgrade will significantly alleviate congestion.” The improvements are intended to create a smoother, hassle-free commute for residents and visitors.

In addition to these upgrades, CDA has announced the construction of new interchanges at several high-traffic locations, including the F-8 Exchange, PTCL Chowk, and Serena Chowk. These interchanges are designed to eliminate bottlenecks, allowing for safer and more efficient traffic flow. The CDA is using advanced 3D modeling for the interchange designs, aiming to meet functional and aesthetic standards for a smarter, more accessible city.
Furthermore, CDA’s beautification drive will enhance Islamabad’s natural appeal by adding landscaping, street art, and greenery along main avenues and public spaces. “Islamabad is known for its natural beauty, and we are committed to preserving and enhancing it,” remarked the spokesperson. “Through our beautification projects, we aim to create spaces that residents can take pride in while attracting visitors to experience our beautiful city.”
