Rawalpindi: The Punjab government recently decided to develop a new housing society near the Islamabad International Airport and the Chakri Interchange — with the scheme expected to be developed with the help of the private sector, on an area spanning over 70,000-kanals, a news source reported.

The required land for the development of the proposed housing society has already been acquired and the scheme is being planned in order to provide all the requisite modern amenities and facilities to its residents. These include sewerage systems, clean water supply, electricity, Sui gas, and internet services. In addition, taking inspiration from the European model, a tourist centre and a water theme park will also be developed on an area of 500-kanals. From there, visitors are expected to get uninterrupted views of the entire housing society.

Additionally, a grand mosque resembling the Blue Mosque of Turkey, a commercial tower, horse riding club, and a golf club will be developed. The housing society will also have a commercial area and an economic zone.
