Rawalpindi: A new economic package is in the works for poverty alleviation in Punjab, a news source reported. This package will include provisions for financial assistance provided to deserving families, free education, marriage grants for females, and soft loans.
The project will be officially announced next week. As per its reported framework, Bait-ul-Mal and Zakat departments will be merged, and a new institution will be formed. Prime Minister Imran Khan will announce the project.
Under the project, soft loans of up to PKR 500,000 will be provided to deserving families living under the poverty line (for purposes of self-employment). They will also be given a facility to obtain taxis, rickshaws, or qingqi rickshaws.
Additionally, widows and orphans will be provided assistance under the project, and marriage grants will be sanctioned for marriages of deserving females.
The preparation for the programme has been completed. Initially, it will be launched with the help of funds ranging from PKR 5 billion to PKR 10 billion.
