Upper Dir: Malakand Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud has said that he would write to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for establishing a new division in the province, comprising the Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Chitral and Bajaur districts – a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during a public meeting held at the district council hall. Operational Commander Brig Abbas Haider, deputy commissioner Irfanullah Mehsud, and several tribal elders, were also present at the occasion.
Riaz Mehsud said that the creation of a new division in Malakand was necessary, as the population of the area had reached the nine million mark. He further added that a single administrative official could no longer manage the area effectively.

He said that the government would soon launch mega projects in the region, such as the Swat Motorway initiative. He added that tourist spots, including Kumrat, Usheri Dara, Zakhana, and Lowari, would also be developed.
