Islamabad: The new bylaws proposed by city managers for commercial building constructions have been finalised, according to a news report. These regulations had been updated after the federal government removed its previous height restrictions on buildings in the capital city. This task was undertaken by a committee headed by Director Building Control Faisal Naeem.

In a recent press exchange, Naeem stated that the committee had finalised these bylaws and would present them to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for approval. He revealed that under these bylaws, there would be no restrictions on the number of storeys added to a building, but construction would take place in accordance to the stipulated Floor Area Ratio (FAR).
For Marakiz, CDA officials have proposed a FAR of 1:6 for plots over 1,000 square yards, and 1:5 for plots sized 1,000 square yards.

For the Blue Area, an FAR of 1:8 has been set for plots sized up to 300 square yards; 1:9 for 3,000 to 5,000 square yards; and 1:10 for plots sized 5,000 square yards and above. In addition, for class-three shopping centres, one extra storey would be allowed for making ground plus two storeys. The CDA will take up these proposed bylaws and consider them for its final approval.
