Mansehra: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is conducting a survey for the execution of the multi-billion New Balakot City Housing project, according to a news report published on March 3.

As per the details, the government is carrying out a comprehensive survey to determine one of the three options to develop and allot plots to Balakot affectees by the 2005 earthquake. It was disclosed that the survey is being conducted by different public sector departments to assess which option is viable.
Moreover, the survey is being carried out to determine whether the KP government should take over the project from the federal government to develop the project and allot plots on Public Private Partnership basis or maintain the statuesque and go with the previous strategy.

Deputy Commissioner Bilal Shahid Rao informed that the total cost of the New Balakot Housing Project was PKR 12 billion at the time of its groundbreaking in 2007. However, due to the delay, the cost has doubled.
