Gwadar: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has set the tariff of the 300-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Gwadar at PKR 6.96 per unit and allowed the Chinese company to collect, a news source reported. The power plant is being set up by CIHC Pak Power Company Limited (CPPCL).
The CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) had decided in its sixth meeting, held in Beijing in December 2016, that a 300MW imported coal-fired power project must be developed on a fast track in Gwadar. JCC had nominated China Communications Construction Company for the project. The project was undertake by CCCC Industrial Investment Holding Company Limited (CIHC), while CPPCL was included as a special purpose company for the development of the project.
The project consists of two units producing 150MW each and has an estimated cost of USD 542.36 million and levelled tariff at 8.91 cents per unit.
