Islamabad: The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved the Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric project at a cost of PKR 506.8 billion, according to a news report. The ECNEC approved the fourth cost revision of this 969 MW project, as it had been ongoing since 1989.
The meeting in which this approval was given was chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, who approved a total of 10 projects worth PKR 779.6 billion. The per-megawatt cost of this project comes to PKR 523 million, while that of the Dasu hydroelectric power plant is PKR 261 million. Other projects approved include those from the health sector, energy sector, and education sector.
