Islamabad: The development work on the Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Plant has been completed by 97%, according to a news source. The process to fill water in the 51-kilometere long tunnels of the project has also been started, which will be completed in phases.
The project is one of the many projects initiated to generate cheaper electricity. Each of its four units has a capacity to produce 242.24 megawatts of electricity. The first unit will become operational in March this year, while the other three units will be ready in other phases.
Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project is estimated to produce five billion units of environment friendly electricity and save PKR 50 billion annually.
