Lahore: The Neelum-Jehlum Hydropower Plant — which has a production capacity of 969 MW — on Sunday recorded a landmark contribution of over 10 billion units to the national grid, according to a news sources.

In addition, the generation of over 10 billion units to the national grid has earned revenues of up to PKR 120 billion for the project. This revelation was made by a spokesperson of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), who took the opportunity to laud this news. He further stated that as the project was being efficiently operated, it was not only meeting the design generation targets, but was exceeding the annual rated generation targets as well.

During the last fiscal year (FY2019-20), the plant succeeded in generating 4,843 million power units, against its target of 4,660 million units — despite various coronavirus-related complications.
The Neelum-Jehlum Hydropower Plant has four generating units with a capacity of 242.25 MW (each). The first unit of the project commenced its operations in April 2018, and attainted its maximum generation capacity of 969MW by August 14, 2018 (with commissioning of all four units).
