Islamabad: The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved a national development programme amounting to PKR 1.837 trillion for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20, a news source reported.
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the economic council. The participants, besides setting an economic growth rate target of 4%, also approved in principle the 12th five-year plan (2018-23).

The officials concerned informed the prime minister that the annual growth rate of 4% is based on sectoral growth rate targets of agriculture (3.5%), industry (2.2%), and services sector (4.8%).
The council approved the PKR 1.837 trillion National Development Outlay 2019-20. Out of said amount, the meeting allocated PKR 925 billion for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and PKR 912 billion for the provincial annual development programmes (ADPs).

Moreover, the government has decided to raise PSDP funds worth PKR 250 billion through a public-private partnership basis. The executive will be responsible for the provision of land and the private sector will make investments on a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis.
