Islamabad: Adviser to Prime Minister (PM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) would disburse grants for the rehabilitation of the environmental ecosystem in the country, a news source reported. As per the publication, NDRMF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lt. Gen (rtd) Nadeem Ahmed briefed Aslam in the NDRMF head office regarding the fund’s ongoing commitments related to Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

Amin was also informed regarding the NDRMF’s financial grants to the provincial governments for procuring flood infrastructure, improving rescue services, fitting early warning systems, and upgrading public infrastructure in the country’s more vulnerable districts.

Further, the NDRMF CEO briefed the adviser on the World Bank’s (WB) Ecosystem Restoration Fund (ESRF) – which will supply grants for e-vehicles, shoring up the blue economy and marine life, checking afforestation and promoting eco-tourism, along with improving the current situations of water recharge, land degradation, and biodiversity in the country.

ESRF will additionally provide funds for the government’s Clean and Green Pakistan and Ten Billion Tree Tsunami (TBTT) projects.
In response, the advisor lauded the NDRMF’s operational mechanism, and reiterated the government’s commitment to utilising all possible resources for diminishing the negative effects of clime change.
