Islamabad: The National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) on Wednesday has approved PKR 7.89 billion for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to support the government’s efforts against the coronavirus disease, according to news sources.

As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases gradually increasing on a regular basis, the situation requires top-level preparedness to control the novel coronavirus disease. The NDRMF granted the loan for the NDMA after the latter submitted a project proposal with the assistance from the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination.

The NDRMF completed its review procedure of the proposal in less than a day and confirmed the grant by signing a tripartite agreement with National Health Services and NDMA.
Initially, the project is aimed at effectively responding and controlling the diverse impact of the pandemic disease through efficient monitoring, infection prevention, case management, protection of paramedical staff, among provision of materials, needed to combat COVID-19.
