Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) launched a helpline on Wednesday for farmers to register locust-related complaints, according to news sources. To this effect, individuals can call at 051-111 222 999 to lodge their grievances.

The hotline service for locust-related complaints is established at the National Locust Control Centre’s (NLCC) operation room. NDMA Chairman Lt General Muhammad Afzal has said that the government is doing its best to neutralise the locust situation.

Furthermore, the NDMA spokesperson stated to the press that the aggrieved farming community can register the complaints around the clock — regarding their respective areas or need of pesticide spray. He further said that the locust swarms have already attacked 61 districts countrywide – including 12 districts of Punjab, 11 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 31 districts of Balochistan and seven districts of Sindh.
Additionally, the spray and survey to control and access the crop damage are still underway. As per the publication, about 3,600-hectare area has been sprayed and 325,000-hectare area has been surveyed in the last 24 hours.
