Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has initiated a flood-damage assessment survey of the worst hit areas of the country — with the operation having been launched in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), the provincial disaster management authorities, and the provincial governments, a news source reported on September 11.

According to the details available, the NDMA had urged UN agencies to carry out multi sector initial rapid estimation of the loss to properties and infrastructure in the areas affected by the floods. The authority is also coordinating with the provincial governments and the disaster management authorities to gather data on the matter under the existing guidelines.

To help the most affected individuals, the NDMA has distributed 35 tons of rations and high energy biscuits among 8,000 families with the help of the World Food Programme (WFP). Similarly, 440 tons of wheat have also been distributed in the areas most affected by flash floods in Sindh.
