Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday received relief kits for healthcare workers from the World Health Organization (WHO) — with the supplies including health emergency kits, surgical masks and other protective equipment, according to news sources.

As per the NDMA’s statement, the relief items also included three rescue boats for flash floods in Sindh. On the occasion, WHO’s Head in Pakistan Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala praised the role played by the federal government and the NDMA for controlling the COVID-19 spread. NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal also took the opportunity to laud the authority’s effective role in dealing with the emergency.

Reportedly, the NDMA has additionally set up 32 medical camps and 56 relief camps in Karachi to overcome the damages caused by urban flooding. Moreover, the authority has also helped evacuate over 8,700 marooned individuals from the flash flood-hit areas.
