Islamabad: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt General Muhammad Afzal has issued letters to the chief secretaries of all four provinces to convert 3, 4-star hotels into quarantine centres, a news source reported.

According to details, he has stated that all such facilities should be repurposed as isolation centres until further notice. Each person suspected of coronavirus infection should be kept in a separate room. He also directed the chief secretaries to submit the details of the quarantine centres to the NDMA.
In a related development, the NDMA has also submitted letters to the Foreign Office for the procurement of medical supplies and equipment needed to tackle the coronavirus outbreak. The equipment required include ventilators, mobile x-ray machines, diagnostic testing kits, face shield, goggles, and N-95 masks.

Moreover, the authority has sought the assistance of donors, welfare organisations, and overseas Pakistanis in procuring the said supplies.
