Islamabad: The government has announced its plan to conduct a nationwide survey to enroll low-income households under the flagship social protection programme ‘Ehsaas’, according to a news source published on March 30.

An official from the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division revealed that many as seven million people have been registered as beneficiaries of the Ehsaas Kafalat initiative and are receiving a monthly stipend of PKR 2,000.
The said survey will be conducted door-to-door through digital means and will be completed by June. More people living under the poverty line will be identified through this survey to be made part of the Ehsaas initiative.

The wide-ranging 140+ social protection and poverty eradication programmes under Ehsaas initiative include:
- Monthly cash stipends of PKR 2,000 each for seven million poorest households
- PKR 50,000 merit-cum-need-based scholarships
- PKR 80,000 interest-free Ehsaas loan every month for small enterprises
- Quarterly conditional cash transfers for primary-school students
- Drawing on need assessment, 11 new Panagahs (shelter homes) were also established across the country
