Lahore: The National Horse and Cattle Show 2025 is set to take place in Lahore from February 10 to 23, marking its grand return after three decades. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the revival of this historic event, which was last held in 1995.
The official inauguration will take place on February 9, with 70 international teams participating for the first time in the show’s history. Originally launched in 1964, the event has long been a symbol of Punjab’s agricultural and cultural heritage.
Themed “Unity, Progress, and Cultural Revival,” the festival will feature traditional equestrian sports such as tent pegging, archery, and polo, alongside cultural exhibitions, flower displays, and children’s games. Music festivals will take place from February 14 to 16, followed by a Sufi Festival on February 19 to honor Sufi saints and their teachings. Additionally, kabaddi matches are scheduled for February 18-19, and vintage car enthusiasts can enjoy a classic car show on February 16.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz described the event as a “gift to the people of Punjab,” highlighting its role in promoting the province’s heritage, agriculture, and traditional values. She emphasized that the international participation underscores the government’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and economic growth.
A steering committee, led by Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, has been overseeing preparations for the past four months, with the Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) playing a key role in organizing the event.
The return of the National Horse and Cattle Show is expected to boost tourism, celebrate Punjab’s rich traditions, and provide a platform for local and international participants to engage in cultural and sporting activities.
