Lahore: The federal government informed the Supreme Court (SC) that the Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority (NAPHDA) is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bahria Town for the construction of 5,000 apartments in Islamabad and Karachi, according to news sources.

Reportedly, out of these 5,000 apartments, as many as 3,000 will be developed in Karachi and 2,000 in Islamabad. The following information was revealed during a court hearing regarding the Bahria Town implementation case.

It was highlighted that in 2019, the SC had accepted Bahria Town’s offer to pay PKR 460 billion for the Malir Development Authority’s land in Karachi. The housing scheme was ordered to deposit PKR 2.5 billion every month for four years and the remaining amount in the coming three years. As per the sources, the Bahria Town has requested for a deferment in the payment deadline.
