Lahore: The Punjab government has selected Nankana Sahib, Pindi Bhattian, and Gujrat for constructing low-cost houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project – a news source reported.

A meeting to this effect took place at the office of The Urban Unit in Lahore. Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mehmood-ur-Rasheed presided over the session.
The officials concerned informed that a feasibility report will be prepared with regard to the selection of these sites for NPHP.
In response, the minister constituted a five-member committee, which will prepared the feasibility report. Representatives of the Housing Department, Urban Unit, and Housing Task Force are members of this committee.

Moreover, Minister Rasheed stressed the need to develop new cities to cater to the issue of rising population growth in the province. He said that the government plans to construct 2.5 million low-cost houses in Punjab under NPHP as a countermeasure.
