Islamabad: Out of the total 1.98 million applications received by the Nation Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for registration to the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, 38% are attributed to the submissions hailing from the country’s labour class, according to a news source.
As per the current residential status of these applicants, 1.02 million (52%) live in rental accommodations, 0.748 million (38%) are from labour class, and 0.68 million (35%) people are living in joint-family settings. A total of 0.425 million (21%) are people from the private sector – while 0.202 million (10%) belong to the public sector and 73,479 (4%) are self-employed individuals.

According to the gender-based classification stats; 1.51 million applicants are male individuals, 0.462 million applicants are female individuals and 5,519 applicants belong to the country’s transgender community. Further, the district-wise distribution of the applicants is as follows:
- Islamabad: 260,856
- Lahore: 225,694
- Karachi: 265,347
- Faisalabad: 124,884
- Multan: 78,738
- Quetta: 70,892
- Peshawar: 47,362
- Swat: 53,486

NADRA has also predicted that the number of applications will exceed the two-million count by January 15, which is the last date for the NPHP registration process. The applicants can register online or visit NADRA’s e-sahulat centres for the said purpose.
