Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the closure of its Pak ID website starting January 17, with all services transitioning to a newly improved mobile app. The move aims to enhance user experience and curb fraudulent activities.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed the development during a recent workshop, highlighting the challenges faced by citizens, especially overseas Pakistanis, in using the website. Issues such as scanning and uploading fingerprints and documents were identified as significant hurdles.

The mobile app, now significantly upgraded, will offer a comprehensive range of services, including applications for national identity cards, NICOP, POC, B-Forms, and family registration certificates (FRC). Citizens will be able to complete all procedures from the comfort of their homes.
NADRA’s decision also comes in response to security concerns. Fraudulent websites have previously exploited citizens’ personal data, creating fake identification documents. The Ministry of Interior and Foreign Affairs is working closely with NADRA to counter such activities and safeguard the integrity of the system.
In addition to the app launch, NADRA plans to open three new regional centers in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan by March 31. These centers aim to improve service delivery in remote areas and resolve citizen issues more efficiently.

Minister Naqvi also noted that 19 tehsils across Pakistan still lack NADRA offices. Efforts are underway to establish these facilities by the end of March 2025.
The revamped mobile app and expanded regional offices mark a significant step in NADRA’s commitment to modernizing services and ensuring accessibility for all citizens.
