Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) set up a six-member advisory committee on Monday to address the concerns of businessmen, according to news sources.
The official notification issued by the department states that the panel was formed after consulting NAB’s executive board and the authority granted to it by the Section 33(C) of National Accountability Ordinance 1999. The mentioned section deals with measures to prevent corruption and corrupt practices, but doesn’t allow the committee to review corruption cases of the business community.

Subsequently, the newly-formed panel’s role will be of a consultative nature, and it will not be able to completely resolve the business community’s concerns or restrict NAB’s decision to take legal action. Any decisions taken by chairman NAB will be considered final, in regards to the complaints and process already filed.

Please note that this development is prompted on the request of prominent national businessmen who wanted to be excluded from the domain of NAB, as they deemed its involvement a hindrance to their business activities.
