Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday distributed cheques worth over PKR 200 million among the affectees of various illegal housing societies, a news source reported.

Previously, the accountability watchdog’s Rawalpindi division had recovered this money from several illegal housing societies who were found involved in cheating the public at large.
NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal distributed the cheques among 4,740 effectees during a ceremony held at the NAB headquarters. He said that the authority had recovered a record sum of PKR 326 billion from corrupt elements; adding that the amount recovered had been transferred to the national exchequer.
As per reports, NAB Rawalpindi has received 11,000 public complaints so far.

NAB Rawalpindi Director General Naeem Mangi stated that the bureau was taking indiscriminate action against the corrupt individuals. It does not care about the status of the corrupt, he added.
