Karachi: The officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi on Tuesday announced the arrest of a land mafia operative that had been involved in committing fraud against many of the city’s residents, according to news sources. As per the NAB spokesperson, the authority captured the culprit after they had initiated an inquiry in to his business activities — both past and future.
The accused is being charged for cheating the public at large and for defrauding approximately 1,100 allottees by not honoring their legal rights as property owners, back in 1992. He did this by reserving plots in their names and making large amounts of money in return by selling the land to a builder instead.

Reportedly, the accused has been involved in such nefarious activities ever since that time over 27 years ago, and the value of the property that he had illegally acquired back then has increased manifolds in this time. The residential project ‘Gulshan-e-Dozan’ (initiated by the accused) encompasses 70 acres of illegal land (amounting to PKR 3.5 billion) and has also failed to adhere to many other laws and regulations put into place by the government.
