Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reported on a 700% increase in its recoveries from corruption cases concerning the housing sector and 500% increase in recoveries form other scams.
As per officials, the recovery stats have grown significantly in the last three years. The department recovered PKR 36,166 million since 2017. From 1999 to 2016, the amount recovered from the housing sector was valued at PKR 6,549 million, and this figure has increased to PKR 38,927 million in the last three years.

References of amount PKR 76,601 million were filed in the accountability courts, involving a sum of PKR 49,000 million, which counted for 265% increase under this head. The accountability watchdog also recovered PKR 350 million in plea bargains from housing sector cases in 17 years.

As per reports, the NAB chairman recently reiterated his stance against corruption and had announced to initiate new measures to eliminate corruption in the housing and other sectors.
