Islamabad: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan recently presented three bills that were duly approved by the National Assembly (NA) — with one additional bill deferred to a committee for review, according to news sources. As per the publication, the said bills included the Surveying and Mapping Bill, 2019, the Foreign Exchange Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2020, and the Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Reportedly, the NA further adopted a resolution aimed at extending an ordinance. According to the information available, the amendments in the ‘Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2020’ will streamline the existing anti-money laundering law by strengthening the offenders’ sentences, in line with international regulations. In addition, the Surveying and Mapping Bill, 2019, will help regulate the foreign exchange regime in the country.

Moreover, another bill, namely the United Nations (Security Council) (Amendment) Bill, 2020, was deferred to the relevant committee for review after its introduction in the house. The NA also adopted a resolution aimed to extend the Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission Ordinance, 2019, to a further 120 days (becoming effective from February 27).
