Islamabad: The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Interior on Thursday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to control the unplanned constructions in Islamabad, a news source reported.

During the meeting, the committee took notice of the mess created in Islamabad due to increasing number of unplanned constructions. The committee members directed the CDA Board to take a decision on this matter soon or it would become difficult to manage the issues arising. Meanwhile, CDA Master Planning Director also briefed the meeting on a presentation regarding the revised Islamabad Master Plan.

Last week, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan also took notice of the unplanned expansion in Islamabad. In this regard, he ordered the CDA and the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) to control this expansion and transform the capital into a ‘model city’. He further directed both authorities to ensure the provision of clean drinking water, transport facilities, health centres, and educational institutions.
