Rawalpindi: The authorities concerned plan to transform the Murree Road into a signal-free corridor which will connect the city’s Saddar and Faizabad area, a news source reported. The construction work on this proposed initiative is expected to commence next year.
As per reports, the Punjab government has decided to construct two underpasses for Marir Chowk and Liaquat Bagh Chowk. For this purpose, the feasibility reports are being prepared. The drafts will be presented to the RDA officials for their approval.

According to Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Arif Abbasi, the Murree Road – which hosts 100,000 vehicles on a daily basis – experiences frequent instances of traffic jams. The construction of the underpasses is expected to facilitate the commuters travelling from Saddar to Liaquat Bagh and Kachehri Chowk.

It is expected that after these projects, after their completion, would reduce the travel time between Saddar and Islamabad to just 10 minutes.
