The Murree-Kohala Road project involved transforming the throughway into a signal-free, dual carriageway — with the venture holding strategic importance as it connects Islamabad with Muzaffarabad – Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly, the 18-kilometre road winds through the mountains to connect the two cities, and costed a total of PKR 1.32 billion to develop.
Additionally, modern European technology is being used for the construction of the roads in order to tackle the issue of land-sliding in the area during periods of heavy rainfall.
