Murree: The Punjab Government has directed Murree’s administration to submit a report regarding anti-encroachment operations conducted in the area, a news source reported. Municipal Corporation Murree has started compiling data in this regard.
Further action will be taken in light of the report as the Lahore High Court has already directed the departments concerned to remove all encroachments by the end of December.
Earlier, the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation carried out an operation on Murree Road, Liaquat Bagh and Committee Chowk, and demolished shutters, boards and other encroachments.
Municipal Officer Shahzad Haider, who supervised the drive, said shopkeepers were sent notices ahead of the operation and that three shops constructed on a drain near Waris Khan Road were demolished. He added that a majority of the traders failed to produce original documents.
LHC Rawalpindi Bench Justice Ibaad-ur-Rehman told the authorities concerned to retrieve state land from illegal occupants, adding that the court would not tolerate any more delays in the operation against encroachments and other illegal structures.
