Lahore: The government of Punjab, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has launched a municipal services improvement programme in Sialkot and Sahiwal – a news source reported. The programme was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar at a ceremony held in the Race Course Park on Wednesday.

The programme will aim to improve the delivery of various municipal services in the two cities, along with providing machinery worth PKR 885 million to their respective districts. Based on the ADB’s financial assistance to the Punjab government for its implementation, the programme’s itinerary will include overseeing improvements to services like waste management, water supply, waste disposal, and clean drinking water provision.

The CM, on the government’s part, has provided 24 mini tippers to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sialkot and another 12 to DC Sahiwal. Addressing the ceremony, he said that the project had been launched under the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme and was geared to help improve the municipal services offered in both cities.
