Karachi: During a garbage clearing drive, the municipal corporation cleared 35,000 tonnes of garbage from storm drains and transferred it to a dumping point at Jam Chakro, according to a news report. On the occasion, Chairman Municipal (Centre) stated that it is a huge problem to immediately shift garbage to the dumping point after clearing it out of drains. It needs to be dried first because of the presence of large amounts of mud. This is why the garbage has to be left by the side of the drains to dry for about two days.
The drive was conducted on the instructions of Caretaker Chief Minister, who instructed the municipal corporation to clean the city before elections, so that the public in general and women in particular face no trouble in reaching polling stations during elections.
