Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to launch major development projects in Islamabad for the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023-24), according to news published in the leading newspaper on June 6.

As per the details, the CDA has planned multiple new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, for which the agency has earmarked PKR 20 billion. These projects include the construction of 11th Avenue, Serena Chowk Underpass, and Shaheen Chowk Overpass, as well as the widening of Lahtrar Road, Park Road, and Murree Road.
The news source mentioned that the city managers are actively engaged in ongoing development projects worth PKR 100 billion across the city. CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal stated that these projects are expected to be completed within the next 2 to 3 months. Furthermore, Mengal emphasized that 11th Avenue will be integrated with Srinagar Highway and IJP Road, while the patchwork on Islamabad Expressway will be completed soon.
In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion, Mengal revealed plans to make the route from Serena Chowk to Kashmir and Murree signal-free. Additionally, the CDA aims to make Margalla Road signal-free. As part of the forthcoming projects, the construction of a dual carriageway over Shaheen Chowk is on the agenda. Furthermore, the expansion of Park Road and Lahtrar Road with additional lanes will also be undertaken during FY 2023-24.

With the allocation of substantial funds and the implementation of these multiple new underpasses and flyovers in Islamabad, the CDA aims to enhance the infrastructure and traffic management system in the city, ensuring smoother transportation and improved connectivity across the city.
