Multan: The forest department is making preparations to plant 15,000 saplings on August 24 in the Miranpur Jungle located near Lodharan, a news source reported. This initiative is being introduced under the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project.

The plantation drive will set an example for others to follow and encourage people to plant trees on their own, said an official. Moreover, it will add to the beauty of the region. Around 1,300 students from various schools have volunteered to participate in the activity. The forest department will be responsible for the care of the saplings after their plantation.

Officials from the department told the press that the government was investing a lot of funds for the plantation drive; including PKR 28 billion for an urban forestry programme. Similarly, 18,000 saplings have been planted in Multan alone.
