Multan: After identification of benami properties worth PKR 31 billion in Multan division, the officials concerned have forwarded the details to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), a news source reported.

Commissioner Multan Iftikhar Ali Sahu chaired a performance review meeting of all the four districts in the division. These include Multan, Vehari, Lodhran, and Khanewal. The officials revealed that they had identified benami properties worth PKR 31 billion.
The commissioner stated that a review of the districts’ performance depended on three factors that included revenue recovery, keeping cities clean and free of encroachments, and price control.

He directed the officials concerned to take strict action against corruption. He added that the staff should perform their duties honestly to make corrections in the revenue record. He also instructed them to upload the records of all villages online. The Land Record Centre officials responded to this by saying that they had already made the records of 2,248 villages available online, out of a total of 2,442 villages.
Commissioner Sahu said that officials should hold court regularly to resolve revenue-related cases. He said that these cases included those filed by expatriate Pakistanis. Additionally, he directed the officials of the Land Record Centre to maintain a friendly demeanour with the public, and make the process for Fard Milkiyat and inheritance easier for them.

The commissioner said that a campaign was underway to reduce smog and make brick kilns move to zigzag technology that would help with lowering emissions. He added that those found burning trash and plastic at public places would face strict action.
