Lahore: The Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) on Wednesday issued a statement announcing that Guinness World Records has recognised mountaineer Shehroze Kashif as the world’s youngest climber to summit the two tallest mountains of the world in the same year, according to news sources.

The young mountaineer, who hails from Lahore, has summited the 8,849-metre-high Mount Everest and 8,611-metre-high K-2 at the young age of 19 years and 138 days. He also holds the record for being the youngest person to have climbed K-2.

Reportedly, Shehroze Kashif scaled Everest on May 6 and K2 on July 27. His first climb was 3,885-metre-high Makra Peak that he submitted at the age of 11, followed by 4,080-metre-high Musa Ka Musalla. His other climbs include Gondogoro La K2 Base Camp trek, Khurdo Pin Pass (5,800m) trek and Khusar Gang, a 6,050m peak that he climbed in Alpine style.
