Islamabad: Pakistan and Chinese tourism associations have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and formed a partnership with travel agencies to promote tourism in the country, according to news published on Sunday (September 5).

According to Pakistan Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque disclosed that a Chinese language website will be launched, titled Discover Baite (also known as Discover Pakistan). This website aims to promote Pakistan’s culture and tourism resources in China. He went on to say that country should develop smart tourism through new technologies to develop digital or virtual tourism resources.

It was also reported that Ambassador Haque has created a task force in Beijing for the revival of Pakistan’s tourism sector. It was highlighted that the country can become an attractive tourist destination for Chinese and global tourists through visa facilitation, favourable policies, relevant tourist organisations, and tourism development and rehabilitation. As per the reports of Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), tourism’s share in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is 6%-7%.
